I really just don’t understand. I mean, Why? Did you miss something over the last several years? Was there something about the mans actions that you just didn’t see? Or do you just not care at all?
I am truly dumbfounded by how Trump got elected again. Truly. I tried to watch more of his rally’s, watch fox news, and try to see things from the other side. I failed, miserably. Every speech was just the same, strange, semi unintelligible meandering word vomit he always puts out there. Most of the time it made no sense. All of the time it had no substance. He never once actually had specifics about policy or change he would enact to help people. Not one time. It was always the classic evasion and weird double talk that ended no where and not once actually answered the question that was asked. Outside of tariffs and immigration being a hot button issue, I have no idea how he plans to address anything of real concern.
Tariffs. I was so sick and tired of hearing “tariffs” as the answer to everything. Which begs the question, does anybody really understand how they work ? Clearly not, not even Trump. Very simple – the company importing the goods pays the tariff, not the country. Said company then decides to either absorb the cost or pass it on to consumers to recoup that cost. Guess which one they choose. Net results, we pay the tariff. So all the “billions and billions” he says will come in, will be coming from us, not China. Why don’t you Trump voters get this ? Immigration. Yes, the border and immigration system is broken. It has been for decades. The important thing to also remember is that this is always an issue around election time and nobody fixes it. Trumps wall did not fix it, nor did Mexico pay for it, and his cohorts scammed millions out of tax payers with illegal contracts and other grifts. Should people be allowed in illegally, no. The process to become a citizen is long and getting there is broken. Look at other countries. Obviously our economy relies on this labor force and if it goes, we will all feel it. And the border isn’t “OPEN”. If you want change, it has to go through congress, and guess who wouldn’t do anything about it…congress (that includes the GOP).
Abortion. I appreciate a lot of folks don’t agree with abortion. The whole point of choice is that you are free to not get an abortion. That is your CHOICE. Isn’t that the whole point? I may not agree with it and I am free to make that choice for myself. And Thanks to Trump and others like him, that choice is now being taken away from women, and they are dying. This is a medical decision between that woman and her doctor, plain and simple. Not politicians, not you, not me.
Economy. This topic is always complicated because of timeline and nuance. The economy doesn’t turn on a dime and the incoming president inherits from the previous administration. Trump inherited a good economy from Obama. Then he started to crater by driving up the debt with his tax breaks for the rich. His tariffs killed manufacturing and farming, which the tax payers had to bailout (more debt), then the pandemic hit and things were a cluster $*%^. This is what Biden inherited. Biden and team turned it around but it wasn’t easy and all of it not totally in his control, like some of what happened under trump wasn’t under his control. The net is Trump is going to inherit a good economy for the most part. He will crater it again – just watch. More tax cuts for the rich will happen, and watch your taxes. Mine went up every year after his last tax cuts, because that’s how he wanted it, we paid for his rich friends to get richer.
I could go on since there is so much, and I think that is the most important part, THERE IS SO MUCH! It’s complicated, nuanced, has layers. And you people need to really learn how stuff works. It’s your duty as a citizen to be informed and educated on how things work. If you aren’t then men like Trump can tell you whatever they want and you won’t know the difference, because you don’t know any better. He did remark that he loves the poorly educated on many an occasion. I wonder why that is?
